Indila

Biography Indila
Quite impossible for Indila to remember this famous day when music became a revelation. From Michael Jackson to Jacques Brel and Ismaël Lô, Warda or Lata Mangeshkar – a famous Indian singer of the forties – the eclectic influences of this young Parisian woman evoke a strong taste for the strength of feelings. Aged seven, Indila already writes some of her first poems, fascinated by the power of words, the strength of an imagination with infinite outlines. Dreams and desires of great travels become entwined in this child’s language to outline what will become her favourite themes. The poetry of this dreamer has today become her songs. This love of writing is now lived as a necessity, a deliverance. She writes and sings the world she perceives, a flight towards her “Mini-World”, her shelter against the pains of life.

It is in 2010 that the young artist is revealed to a wider audience. She takes part in several collaborations with artists from an urban background such as Soprano (“Hiro”), Rohff (“Thug Marriage “) as well as NessBeal (“Poussière d’empire”). Nevertheless, it is mainly her work with Youssoupha that will kickstart her career: their song “Dreamin”, released in January 2012, has reached 36 million views on YouTube to this day.
In 2013, Indila signs a contract with Capitol Records and starts work on her first album “Mini World”. No border, whether actual or symbolical, will stop her creative momentum and tarnish her definition of music. She leaves the production of her work in the hand of Skalpovich. Together, they form an innovative and complementary artistic duo: Skalpovich writes and produces the songs whilst Indila works on melodies and lyrics. With this first album in which she faces us alone, she leaves behind labels and genres: sepia notes ringing with delicious nostalgia and resolutely modern rhythms bring us into a dense, out of time and singular universe. World Music, French popular music and pop mingle with no consideration for their differences to create a musical landscape with worldwide dimensions. Released in February 2014, this first album becomes a true success and receives a diamond certification with more than 1.4 million albums sold around the world. Her track « Dernière Danse » will end up gathering more than 555 million views on YouTube and her first four videos would reach more than 1 billion views in total! “Mini World” will later be certified Gold in Belgium, Diamond in France and Poland - where Indila would even become the bestselling artist of the year with her album “Mini World”.
Indila has been nominated for several categories at the NRJ Music Awards and became a laureate at the Victoires de la Musique, MTV Europe Music Awards, Trace Urban Music Awards and at the European Border Breakers Awards for best debut album of the year, best French artist and artist of the year.

In 2015, Indila left the spotlight and disappeared completely from the media to give freedom to what she really values: music - a music without border, that can travel freely between different continents and from heart to heart.
After a long time spent away from « Mini World », Indila leaves her shroud of silence and comes back in this end of year 2019 to share with us a new fantastic adventure whose itinerary is adorned with dreams and emotions. Each song is an invitation to travelling, a glance towards a new horizon, always bigger, farther. Nonetheless, it will only take Indila a few notes to make us feel that this vastness is only a sensation we carry within ourselves and that each of us is the centre of the universe.
